Who I am and What I am About

dominique lesleyann is a multidisciplinary dance artist, choreographer, and educator whose work centers storytelling, embodied reflection, and community-rooted creative practice. She revisits and reimagines the many facets of herself, drawing on lived experience, ancestral learning, and collaborative relationships to shape a reality grounded in empathy, compassion, and collective care.

Her work explores themes of love, lineage, grief, and the role of movement as a tool for individual and communal transformation. Guided by principles of listening and inter-generational knowledge, Dominique is committed to cultivating and sustaining thriving, interconnected communities through artistic practice.

As an educator, Dominique invites students into intentional processes of self-reflection. She co-creates classrooms where young artists feel supported in accessing their inner truth and creating movement from a place of authenticity, agency, and curiosity.

Dominique’s choreographic and performance work has been presented internationally in Portugal, France, Madrid, and Vancouver, as well as throughout the Bay Area. She currently teaches arts education in San Francisco and Oakland and dances with Dance Brigade. Her ongoing artistic research honors movement as ritual, medicine, and a vital mode of cultural and spiritual connection.
